How is it already the end of March? Am I in a time warp or something?

It would make sense, as I've been pretty much focused on nothing but basketball lately. My Tarheels made it to the Final Four, which means next weekend will be equally nerve-wracking and exciting. I think I better start resting up now.

In other news, we've been watching a lot of cooking on TV lately: Gordon Ramsay, Top Chef, the occasional Emeril segment on GMA. I think that for most people, watching cooking makes them want to cook, but I am not like that. Watching cooking just makes me want to eat, and because I have neither the time or the inclination, the food I am watching being prepared is pretty much out of my realm of possibility. As is eating out, which these days involves a complex process of procuring babysitters, which pretty much rules out any kind of, "Hey, let's go out and eat sushi!" impulsiveness. So really, I'm just frustrating myself by continuing to watch all these shows. It's like watching the Home Shopping Network when you're broke. And yet, still, I'll sit there and watch a big segment on preparing lobster, then sigh and head off to make manwiches. Again. Oh, well.

Due to the aforementioned total lack of time or organization, I decided I was going to really try to streamline my schedule. Step one: writing out a calendar for every week, with set time segments dedicated to specific tasks. (Geralin, are you proud of me?) So I sit down and begin, but I make the days too narrow to write in anything. So I rip it up, and start over. This time, my writing is too messy. Try again. Now, I smear the ink and there's a big blotch over Tuesday, and by then I was too frustrated to even keep going so I quit. I mean, could I BE any more of a mess? I can't even complete the task that's supposed to help me complete all my tasks. Sigh.

Oh, well. At least I got out of the house on time to do this video! (I tried to embed it, but for some reason it's not working.....) I actually think I look a little orange. Maybe it's time to hit Sephora....

Have a good day, everyone!

Might I suggest a pre-printed calendar with time slots already put in for you? Haha, I can relate to the annoyances of perfectionism, too.

I'm the same way with the Food Network. I just want to reach into the TV and grab whatever it is they made and eat it. Especially with Iron Chef.

Go Heels! I was bored at first, but Saturday's game got a little too close for my liking. Phew. Cannot wait to take on the Jayhawks! I'll be in CH on Saturday too, so will try to come see you speak!

Good luck with the calendar. I like lists, but I am a bit bad at crossing things off...

i'm with the above commenter on Google calendar-- it's amazing, you can color-code all your activities and if you leave it open on your computer a little alarm pops up before your events begin.

and this is a really ADHD observation, but your engagement and wedding rings are really pretty :) I think I'm at the age where I actually notice other women's left hands!

i laughed out loud when i read this. im trying to become more organized with school (even though im about to graduate college very soon) so i tried to make a calendar using Word and the days came out too small but i just had to deal with it since my printer is running out of ink.

Haha...I'm ridiculously obsessive about scheduling. I have a Word document set up in pages that fit my planner, one for every day M-F and then one sheet for Saturday. I put times on things that have set times, but I never try to schedule times for specific tasks because I never measure the amount of time correctly...so instead, after my scheduled things I just have a big to do list at the end, lol. Then I prioritize the list and move stuff from day to day as it doesn't get done (which happens A LOT).

I also have a color coded calendar on Outlook and a big wall calendar next to my desk...haha.

I watched the video, and I don't think you look orange. =] I'm going to go see you at Quail Ridge, but my parents don't know that I am yet... I should probably fix that. But I feel what you're going through with the organization. Spring break is the only reason I'm staying sane right now. Happy early April fool's!

If you have a Mac computer, they come with the iCal installed on the computer, and though I am only in high school and don't have as much on my plate as an author/mother, it kept me on track for a variety of events from birthdays to homework, to parties, to dentist appointments. It definetly helped me out alot. If you don't have a Mac, I'm sure they have programs similar to iCal on PC.

Hey if not, The Mom's Plan-It planner/calender was also a God send for my mother.

Paralysis by Analysis
Hello Sarah,

Who cares if your calendar has a blotch on it? Not us!

You could think of your paper-based planner as an opportunity for artistic enhancement. Embellish your calendar with life's little spills. Use your calendar as a way to record experiences, reflections, feelings, . . .food and beverages.

Ice cream on Monday. New bronzer on Tuesday. Cosmos on Wednesday...spray a little cologne on the page for Thursday, etc. Latte ring on Friday...

Calendars are a reflection of interests and values.

Strive for excellence, not perfection! Lather, rinse, repeat.
