So the weekend is over, and frankly, I'm kind of exhausted. That's what happens when you watch basketball pretty much nonstop for three days. Whew! At least now we have a little time before the next big thing---the Big Dance!---begins. I was also having big problems with my DirectTV receiver all weekend long, which made watching the games that much more stressful, as my TV kept cutting off at random moments. It added another level of tension to the games not knowing if, at a crucial possession, the picture might just disappear for who knows how long. I'm hoping it's resolved now, but I think I need to have a radio handy for next weekend. If not that, maybe a defibrillator. Thanks to my TV issues, I also missed all but about five minutes of The Return of Jezebel James, Amy Sherman-Palladino's new show. She created Gilmore Girls, which loyal readers know I am more than a little bit obsessed with, so I really wanted to see this. Maybe they'll rerun it? Once I have my defibrillator? Finally, what is it about Bravo reality shows? They ALL seem to follow the same format as Project Runway, and yet they are all equally addictive. Case in point: Top Chef, which I watched last night. I have somehow managed to avoid getting hooked on this show, but now, after one episode, I fear that's over. The only thing not to like is that it made me REALLY hungry. But maybe, since I have not watched a SINGLE EPISODE of Idol this year---an achievement, considering my track record?----I'm entitled to a new reality show? Maybe so. Okay, gotta go put some green on the baby so she doesn't get pinched. |

Parker Posey runs around like a chicken with her head cut off; and not in a funny way. I watched the episode after the pilot too, and it was a little less painful, but still not fun to watch. They should really make her less like a heroin-addict...imho. Plus, the whole concept of the show was shoved in your face in about 2 seconds, never explaining anything and then it took off...also, not in a good way. Still, I would watch the rerun just to see what Amy S.P. has gotten herself into :( |

I'm willing to give Jezebel another chance, in part because, like you, I love Gilmore Girls, and in part because I loved Lauren Ambrose on Six Feet Under, but, there are some serious problems with the show. It would be better if there were no laugh track and if Parker Posey's performance wasn't so, as another commenter said, chicken-with-her-head-cut-off. But, yeah, I was a bit disapointed. - j (fishinginabucket.blogspot.com) |

On March 19th, 2008 04:19 pm (UTC), an anonymous reader commented: Jezebel James Well.. personally, i actually liked the show. Alot. True true, i HATE that it's a sitcom (The laughing in the background is not cool. Amy is just too subtle for it, if you ask me). But, it does have a very interesting storyline (even if it was approached rather strangely, it has never been done before, that's for sure), and i do kind of get into the characters. I think if it can pick up and make it then it has the potential to last a long time (potential. story-line wise.) And oh, it was SO NICE seeing Scott Cohen. I'd watch the show just for him (: (i've missed Max!) Although there was one scene that reminded me so much of loreli, i quite disliked it. So we'll see! |
