So the weekend is over, and frankly, I'm kind of exhausted. That's what happens when you watch basketball pretty much nonstop for three days. Whew! At least now we have a little time before the next big thing---the Big Dance!---begins. I was also having big problems with my DirectTV receiver all weekend long, which made watching the games that much more stressful, as my TV kept cutting off at random moments. It added another level of tension to the games not knowing if, at a crucial possession, the picture might just disappear for who knows how long. I'm hoping it's resolved now, but I think I need to have a radio handy for next weekend. If not that, maybe a defibrillator.

Thanks to my TV issues, I also missed all but about five minutes of The Return of Jezebel James, Amy Sherman-Palladino's new show. She created Gilmore Girls, which loyal readers know I am more than a little bit obsessed with, so I really wanted to see this. Maybe they'll rerun it? Once I have my defibrillator?

Finally, what is it about Bravo reality shows? They ALL seem to follow the same format as Project Runway, and yet they are all equally addictive. Case in point: Top Chef, which I watched last night. I have somehow managed to avoid getting hooked on this show, but now, after one episode, I fear that's over. The only thing not to like is that it made me REALLY hungry. But maybe, since I have not watched a SINGLE EPISODE of Idol this year---an achievement, considering my track record?----I'm entitled to a new reality show? Maybe so.

Okay, gotta go put some green on the baby so she doesn't get pinched.

Have a great St. Patrick's Day, everyone!

Seriously, Top Chef is SO GOOD. I've cut back on a lot of my TV watching but Top Chef gets to stay.

In the past, Bravo has run full-day marathons of the previous seasons, so you can watch those, too.

Jezebel James kind of sucked, unfortunately. It's so painfully obvious that it should have been an hour-long dramedy along the lines of GG, not a sitcom. It's not funny enough to be a sitcom, and the material cries out for more time and depth. Also, it feels a little bit...recycled. With Max Medina/Scott Cohen as the love interest, and the fast talking, and a few other familiar faces...I don't know. It's a letdown.

OMG! I missed Jezebel James too :( I was so sad. I'd actually like completely forgotten about it and I really hope they rerun the first two episodes at some point- would be nice to rerun them before Friday's next episode, but ah well.

The Return of JJ
I was really excited about the possibilities of this show, but during the first 5 minutes of the pilot episode I could feel a big letdown coming. Parker Posey runs around like a chicken with her head cut off; and not in a funny way. I watched the episode after the pilot too, and it was a little less painful, but still not fun to watch. They should really make her less like a heroin-addict...imho. Plus, the whole concept of the show was shoved in your face in about 2 seconds, never explaining anything and then it took off...also, not in a good way. Still, I would watch the rerun just to see what Amy S.P. has gotten herself into :(

Speaking of basketball Northwestern State lost to Univeristy of Texas-Arlington Sunday and lost the Southland Conference Championship and our second (maybe third?) chance at making the NCAA playoffs... :( But they played well and worked hard! There's always next year!

I thought there were some good parts and some bad parts to Jezebel; check out Alan Sepinwall's blog (sepinwall.blogspot.com) and the AV club (avclub.com) for some smart reviews. I'm willing to give Jezebel another chance, in part because, like you, I love Gilmore Girls, and in part because I loved Lauren Ambrose on Six Feet Under, but, there are some serious problems with the show. It would be better if there were no laugh track and if Parker Posey's performance wasn't so, as another commenter said, chicken-with-her-head-cut-off. But, yeah, I was a bit disapointed.

No "Idol" here either
We decided to skip American Idol this year too. I'd gotten used to watching a little less TV thanks to the writers strike, plus with Jericho, Big Brother and Survivor already hogging up my Tues/Weds/Thurs nights, I couldn't see squeezing three nights of American Idol (it was three nights in the beginning) in on top of that.

Have you checked out Jericho? You must! I think you'd really like it. (Skeet Ulrich ... what's not to like?) Full episodes available on cbs.com.

Actually- saturday was st. Patty's day. The catholic church moved it because Today is the first day of holy week (being as easter is on sunday) and you can't have a saint's day during holy week or something.

Jezebel James
I have to concur with many of the statements above. The show was almost painful to watch. I was excited when I saw many familiar faces in the Pilot (Gypsy pregnant, Max Medina as the love interest), but the excitement waned as the show went on. Sarah (Parker Posey) was flighty and not one bit funny. The laugh track killed me. And I could not sympathize with any one of the characters on the show.

I never expected the Gilmore Girls from Jezebel James- but I expected better from ASP. Thorough disappointment from what I've seen so far.

Jezebel James picked up a little bit when they introduced the sister but, you know, I kind of felt that Parker Posey didn't fully understand/couldn't keep up with the timing required of her. Also, her character was not likable. At all.

And it made me miss Max way too much.

Gilmore Girls...Bravo TV
Hey Sarah!
I am obsessed with "Gilmore Girls" also!!!! I cried on the last episode!!!!! I feel so suave and empty now without my favorite show being on! Seriously!!! I watched "Top Chef" last night too! It was good. I don't really watch "Prject Runway." I think I'll start watching it on the new season though because apparently I'm missing out on something...LOL! I LOVE "Make Me a Supermodel" on Bravo. Have you watched that one? I was so sad last Thursday though because, Casey...He is a guy, got voted out by stupid America. I vote 80 times last week to get him to stay but it didn't work. He made it pretty far though. To the finale 6. I am so sad though. I cried!!! LOL! Well, happy St. Patrick's day!!!

UNC has a challenging road to the Final Four... I wish them luck in the Big Dance. I'd root for them but I can't because of 2 reasons.

1. I'm a KU fan... Rock Chalk Jayhawk, KU!!
2. Roy Williams... need I say more.

My cable company loves to screw with the cable during the most important games. I have had it go off several times over many different years during the Super Bowl. And during key basketball play-off games. I swear they're trying to spite me.

Jezebel James
Well.. personally, i actually liked the show. Alot. True true, i HATE that it's a sitcom (The laughing in the background is not cool. Amy is just too subtle for it, if you ask me). But, it does have a very interesting storyline (even if it was approached rather strangely, it has never been done before, that's for sure), and i do kind of get into the characters. I think if it can pick up and make it then it has the potential to last a long time (potential. story-line wise.) And oh, it was SO NICE seeing Scott Cohen. I'd watch the show just for him (: (i've missed Max!) Although there was one scene that reminded me so much of loreli, i quite disliked it. So we'll see!
