The Friday Five! (Special Thursday Night Edition!)

1. Can you tell I'm eager for the weekend to come? So eager, in fact that I'm pretty much deciding it is here, right here, right now. Maybe I'm jumping the gun a bit, or maybe...not. After all, the ACC Tournament started today, which, around these parts, anyway, is basically like a holiday. The best news? We play tomorrow at NOON. Finally, a game I can be sure I'll be awake for. Hooray!

2. Speaking of things to celebrate, loyal reader Julie alerts me to some news I definitely didn't know about: there's going to be a sequel to Center Stage! SHUT UP, I say! But it's true. And while there is no synopsis up yet, it looks like both Peter Gallagher AND Cooper Nielsen return. Oh.My.God. It can only be really good, or really terrible. Actually, this is Center Stage we're talking about. It will probably be BOTH. Thanks, Julie!

3. Meanwhile, I feel like spring is finally here. Or at least very close. It's really warm outside, the trees are all blooming, and there are daffodils just about everywhere you look. I know that most likely, there will be another burst of cold weather JUST as I decide to go pull out my Havianas, but still. Pretty nice. So nice that I'm wondering why, exactly, I'm sitting here looking out at it, instead of being outside. Hmmm...

4. You know how a lot of times, when you go to get hot water for tea at a coffee shop, there's a little sign on the machine that says CAUTION: HOT! Well, let me tell you: it's not a joke. And I know, because the other day, I filled up a to go cup with hot water to heat the baby's bottle when we were out, and then went to stand in line with it. A moment later, the bottle shifted, or something, dropping further into the cup, and hot water spilled over the top, down the front of my shirt. OUCH. Yes, I got burned, and pretty badly, actually. Had to go to urgent care and everything. I'm fine now, and was really just happy that Sasha was with her dad, and nowhere near me when this happened. But suffice to say, from now on, I'll find another way to heat up bottles. Yikes. If I get scars, I have already decided to come up with a much better story to explain their origins. Maybe one involving rescuing people from a burning building. I don't know, I'm still working on it. I'll keep you posted.

5. Finally, you KNOW that the last thing I need is another TV show to get addicted to. And yet, I'm still always on the lookout. I was listening to NPR awhile back when they had a piece about this new show on BBC America called That Mitchell and Webb Look. It sounded so funny I went ahead and set up the Tivo to tape it and now, my husband and I can't stop referencing the various skits in our daily lives. They're all pretty funny---I mean, just look at the picture on that page I just linked to, it's funnier than half the shows on TV alone---but this one is currently my favorite. I give you: Numberwang.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

edited to add: That first commenter is right, this IS deserving of a 6: a spin-off of 90210, created by Rob Thomas, who did Veronica Mars? Am I dreaming? Is this possible? Looks like it is. Happy Friday!

Ouch! That sucks. I gave myself second-degree burns in college with a cup of tea, so I know that's no fun. I hope they gave you Silvadene (silver sulfadiazene) cream. It's the best stuff for burns. I don't have any scars and neither does my youngest brother, who pulled over a mug of boiling water on himself as a toddler. Good luck in the tournament!

READ THIS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!***********
so i was at my brother's graduation from high school - Seton Hall Prep (NJ). And i was really excited because he went to school with Ann Hathaway's brother. So i figured she would have to go to his graduation, right? Anyway, i was there keeping my eye out, and i spotted her! She was sitting at this top-row area that only some people could get into. so luckily my brothers friend were letting the people who got to sit in this exclusive "top-row" into their seats, and suprisingly he let me up there too! As you could image, i was SO EXCITED .. i mean wouldn't you be? Well, i was all ready with my paper and pen, and i go up to her and say ..."will you..." before i got to finish my question she snapped back at me with the simple yet somehow complicated response, "NO!" She said it with such ease, as if that was the only word in the world she knew. Could you believe it? No. Just like that. Well to say the least, i was shocked. I actually didn't know what to do. so after about 3 mins of silence, i turned around and walked away. I couldn't believe someone i looked up to could be so rude? Ann Hathaway is not someone i wanted to be like - it's not even someone i wanted to know! So i put this out there, to the rest of the world .. believe in yourself and learn from experience because turning back time won't help, the next best thing to do is anticipate the future.

If she signed yours, she would have to sign 500 other kids. She was there to see her brother graduate. It amazes me how no one has any respect for "celebrities" and think its okay to ask for autographs all the time.. and then think its rude when they say no. If you want her autograph.. go somewhere promoting a movie, thus working. She was there for her family.

It makes me laugh to see this response to my story. All i have to say is that if you are willing to, and decide to become famous .. then dealing with your fans is something that comes along with it. The graduation did not start, and i was not bothering anyone. When you take on the job of becoming an actor or actress, you should expect to have fans - and frankly, should be honored to have them in the first place. Okay maybe she had to say no so a millions others didnt ask her.. but in a rude way? i dont think so .. i don't believe anyone should be treated like that .. famous or not. And a matter of respecting .. is it respectful to treat someone as if they are the smallest person alive - having no meaning at all? No its not .. im intrigued to see that you feel i should have respected this women, that i looked up to for so many years, who fat-out disrespected me with such ease.

I can understand your feelings. We sometimes want people to act like what they seem like on television. Anne Hathaway has been popular for quite some time now, maybe the fame is gone to her head. I think it's always expected that people are going to be rude sometimes. I'm sorry she was so rude to you. Here's a piece of advice, next time you see a fave celebrity run!

Ouch! Poor you and the hot water (we have one of those hot water spouts in our office).

Mitchell and Webb did the Mac/PC adverts in Britain. They also have a sitcom called Peep Show, which is pretty rude, but very funny.

I'm not a fan of spin-offs and sequels. I'm constantly groaning about Hollywood's lack of ideas and originality. I think 90210 is sacred and should be left alone.

I absolutley love this book. It talks about the family struggles that Caitlin has. She is going through the loss of her relationship with her sister. She turns to drugs and other negative behaviors. On top of it, she gets into a violent relationship that she cannot get out of alone. I can relate to this story because I was in similar situations. I think that it gives young people hope for a better tomorrow.
