First off, I want to thank everyone for the very kind words about Sasha. I especially liked that so many people said she looks like me, which is very nice to hear, because really, she looks EXACTLY like my husband. Like carbon copy exact. Not that you would know this, of course, as he does not want to be in this blog, but trust me, it is true. The only people who ever say she looks like me are people who don't know him. But still, it's nice to hear anyway.

In other news, an astute reader pointed out this happy coincidence: Lock and Key and the second season of Friday Night Lights on DVD are being released on the same day, April 22nd! Does this mean that I am that much closer, in the pop culture universe, to Tim Riggins? Oh, God, I hope so. I can't think of a better way to celebrate my pub date than watching FNL. Okay, maybe watching FNL with a glass of champagne. Or, if I'm hanging out with Tim Riggins, a cold beer. I'm not picky. Whatever he wants will be fine!

(I know, I know, Tim Riggins is a fictional character. I am not that crazy. Or sleep deprived. Actually, maybe I am. Sleep deprived, not crazy, that is.)

Also, I mentioned on Friday that I'll be over on the Readergirlz site on MySpace, popping in on the forums this months and doing a chat in a few weeks. But you can also check out the main site, where you'll find some stuff about Just Listen, including a playlist and 10 Things You Should Know About Me. (My Tim Riggins fixation is not listed, but then again, you already know about that, right?)

Finally---finally!---I have to throw in a plug for what will be my VERY FIRST public reading in, like, a million years. It's going to be on April 5th, on the UNC Campus, and you can find out more about it here. I know, it's still a ways off, but I'm really excited, because it has been a long time since I've done any events, and it's nice to start up again at one of my favorite places in the world. The lecture is even in a room where I had MANY classes as a student, years ago. Anyway, if you're local and interested, please come out. Hopefully I still remember how to do this! We'll find out, I guess....

Have a good day, everyone!

Sasha's adorable! And good taste in trashy mags...yes, I'm sure the release date for your book means that you and Riggins are soul destined in some way...perhaps he could play the lead in one of your movie adaptations?

Come to think of it, he would be perfect as the boy MC in your book about the boy who is an artist where they are caterers? Brain fart on the title, but I'm sure you know who I mean.

I'm not local, but I am interested! I should have my car on campus by then, so I should be able to make it. It's only 2 and a half hours (I'm coming from Lynchburg, VA).

So we'll see what happens.

I feel like you. I think Lilly looks a LOT like Brandon, even the few pictures of him as a baby, including the expressions they make.

Lilly had a bad fever when she was younger and was hard to wake up or keep awake so we took her to the hospital (it was a holiday and her doc office was closed) and a nurse said "She looks just like you!" and I was like "Really?!" And she goes "Oh, you don't hear that a lot?" And I said "Eh, it's kind of split... I hear him a lot" and she turned and saw Brandon and she goes "Oh, she looks like him!" and I was just speechless.

that's a saturday, i'd totally try to come to your reading. half of my graduating class from high school goes to chapel hill!

and i understand about your daughter-- i look EXACTLY like my dad (or i did as a kid)-- my moms friends and family always said i looked like her... but everyone who knew my dad said "NOO! she looks like her dad." but i bet, when she's older, she'll look more like you. i came to look a lot like my mom as i hit my mid-teen years.

readergirlz is excited to have you!
Can't wait to chat with you at our forum; the girls are SO excited that you're coming. I read Lock and Key on holiday and absolutely loved it. In fact I went on a Dessen Binge and read the only three books of yours I hadn't yet read. Feel like I went to North Carolina instead of to Hawaii ... except for the tan lines (yes, brown people like me tan, too!) Welcome, too, to the journey that never ends ... motherhood.

Sarah, if you are starting public readings again, does this mean you will have a book tour soon? And perhaps make your way over to New York City? (And by that I mean PLEASE come to New York City and read!!) Also, that picture of Sasha is adorable. She is beautiful!

Yay Baby!
Oh my goodness, your baby is absolutely adorable! It makes me want kids of my own hehe (even though that isn't going to happen for a very, very long time). It's so incredibly sweet to hear the way you talk about her, too! You're going to be a great mommy - err, you already are hehe.
