Today, I had Sasha on the bed while I put away some clothes. I put toys around her---her bunny, stuffed monkey, a couple of books---so she could grab at stuff. I turned my back for a second, looked back and....she was holding my US Weekly, which I had not realized was also in reach. Uh-oh, I thought. Better get the collected works of Shakespeare in the mix, stat!

(Maybe a love of celebrity gossip is genetic? Could be. Then at least it wouldn't be my fault.)

In other news, I find that I am suddenly a shoe person. Don't get me wrong: I have always liked shoes. But I haven't been the type to troll the shoe section, drooling over the pumps and slingbacks. I like a nice pair of heels just fine, but I'm more comfortable in my beat up Danskos or my favorite Havianas flip flops. But. Yesterday I was walking through Nordstrom and I found myself drifting, drifting, over to the shoe department. There were these really pretty patent leather black Mary Janes, and some pink wedges, and bright red pumps I would NEVER wear and yet still, somehow, wanted desperately. Maybe this is a result of when I was pregnant, and nothing fit BUT my shoes? Or it's just a part of getting a little older, and appreciating finer things? Or perhaps, genetic, like loving US Weekly? (That, I doubt, as my mother could care less about shoes. Or Us Weekly, for that matter. The collected works of Shakespeare, though, she would very much enjoy.) At any rate, I resisted, but it wasn't easy. I fear a trend may be in the making. Watch out!

Finally, from the FYI department: tomorrow, Just Listen will be released in paperback, which is very exciting. I haven't yet gotten my copies, but so I may head out to my local bookstore and see if I can find one. Maybe while I'm there, I'll also pick up a collected works of Shakespeare. Hmmmm....

Have a good day, everyone!

Oh, it wouldn't surprise me if it was genetic. My mother is obsessed with pop culture just as I am and her mother was more obsessesd with Elvis Presley and Sal Mineo than anyone.

It makes sense.

I don't think it's heriditary. I'm obsessed with celebrity gossip, though I don't support the tabloid magazines, and my parents couldn't care less about celebrities. Same with shoes -- I love them (and own many, many pairs) while my Mom just needs the basics.

I have been OBSESSED with shoes lately. Unfortunately, since I have to walk so much everywhere (college student!) I don't get to wear many pairs of heels.

I saw a couple of copies of the paperback Just Listen yesterday at Waldenbooks (Borders)!

Wow, umm, you must get this like alot. You know just random people telling how great your books are. But I bought Just Listen the other day (I hate to admit because the cover was so intresting), and it just suprised me. Don't worry I'm not a shoe addict either, it's only with converses. For some reason when I see a really cute pair I just need to buy them... so far I have about a collection of 6 pairs. Anyway just wanted to say thanks alot for inspiring me, and giving me confidence to get me through my english homework *big smile*

Hmm...my mother and I are both obsessed with US Weekly and E! stuff. But the former we got addicted to because of my great-aunt (or some relation I can't really describe), and the latter I got into during the summer when there was nothing else to do but feed my brain with celebrity drama.

So, hereditary? Maybe people are just predisposed for it or something, lol. Watch out for Sasha, then. :-D

We got "Just Listen" in paperback in our shipment last week, and it immediately became my new staff pick. (Literally--out of the box, onto my staff pick shelf.)

As for the genetic thing, sure it is! When my grandparents passed away and the house was getting cleaned out, the one thing my mom found and made sure I got was my Grandma's General Hospital magazines and the People with Luke&Laura on the cover. As soon as she gave them to me, I went "See! I get it honest!"

The Nordstrom shoe section is just plain tempting. Even I, a non-shoe person, stroll through and dream of kitten heeled mules...

YES! I have been waiting SO LONg for it. I have every book of yours in paperback, except that one. I eventually broke down and bought the hardback version in November, but I still want the paperback edition! HOORAY!
I WILL GET IT ASAP!
I usualy go to target because it is cheapest there.
7.15 for any of your paperbacks.
I have two copies of that summer, though. I bought it and then found an original edition at half priced books for only a quarter and couldnt resist! I cant wait for Lock and Key!

I SO cant wait for Lock and Key. I actually got the picture from your site and use it for my screen saver.
I want to be a writer, I have already writen several novels, but I am tweleve so publication is next to impossible.
I always read your books and then think, I could have thought of that, why didnt I?
So I took your title 6 months ago and started the story that I thought that you would write to test myself, and when i read the first chapter I found that though our books are symilar, yours is way better! You are in comparable!

I'm fourteen and working on a novel, too. ^_^ That's cool what you did, though...it'll be funny if there are more similarities!

Back to the post, I've become a little more interested in shoes, too...but that's probably just because I finally got new ones after a long time of only having a few wearable pairs. So, I think my reasons are slightly different than yours.
