Today is the first UNC-Duke game this season. Normally, I would have woken up with a nervous feeling in my stomach, spent all day trying to calm down, and then glued myself to the TV from the opening buzzer till the final seconds ticked off, palms sweaty and heart racing. This year, I'm just hoping to stay up for the whole thing, as I've been having to get up around 5:30 most days, and nothing is more important to me than sleep. Not even basketball. I never thought I'd say that, but sadly....it's true.

I did put Sasha in her UNC onesie AND UNC socks today, though. (Thanks again, Lara Z!) I thought about us wearing our matching UNC T-shirts, but that seemed like overkill. Maybe I'll wait until the next Duke matchup?

Ummm... my 6'3" 13Y0's favorite Christmas present is his UNC sweatshirt.

A kid at school was wearing a Duke shirt... Son made a 'not nice' comment (it was 'no name calling' week)... football coach/history teacher looked at son and rolled his eyes.
BTW we're in Chicago.

And, as a UVA student, I'm not really allowed to root for UNC, but I bet that Sasha looks SO adorable in her Tar Heel gear. I love baby sports outfits... they're so cute!

It was a great game! Such a relief to see Tyler without the face mask after the unfortunate collision with Gerald Henderson last year. I am sure Sasha will have many opportunities to see the Tarheels play better than they did on Wednesday.

The game went better than I expected last night. Except in the end. I guarantee we'll beat them next time because we'll have Ty Lawson back.
I got to go to the game, and it was very energetic and LOUD. Probably the loudest sporting event I've ever been to. And John Edwards came with his family. He attended our last home game as well. Nothing like Carolina basketball to get rid of the presidential-drop-out doldrums, hehe.

Also, I read the excerpt of Lock and Key and it's sounding good : ) I am most definitely looking forward to reading the book in its entirety this April, and also seeing you again at, perhaps, another UNC reading? That would be cool.
