Look what I got:

See it? Look closer:

Isn't that the coolest? It's just like the Lock and Key cover. My friend Travis made it. And I'm going to be giving one away through my website sometime in Spring 2008, so stay tuned!

In other news, I think I mentioned here that we got Showtime back in the fall because we decided we could not endure the long wait for Season Three of Weeds to come out on DVD. And with Showtime, we also got The Movie Channel, which I have now decided should be called The Dirty Dancing Channel. I swear to you, Dirty Dancing is on one of the Movie Channel channels EVERY SINGLE DAY if not EVERY SINGLE MOMENT. It's insane. Not that I'm necessarily complaining, of course, as I love Dirty Dancing and will pretty much stop what I'm doing to watch it, at least for a few minutes. (Yet another reason why I never seem to get anything done these days. When in doubt, blame Patrick Swayze, is what I say.) But as I sit watching it, I always wonder who else is getting sucked in at that same exact moment. I mean, they must do market research, right, in deciding what movies to show the most. So there has to be a reason they pick Dirty Dancing and not something else. So maybe there is a contingent of new moms about my age, home during the day, somewhat wistful for cheesy 80's nostalgia, and I'm not alone? God, I hope so. Because if not, then I'm even more pathetic than I think. Which is, well, pretty pathetic. Sigh.

Finally, it's going to be eighty degrees here today. Yes, you read that right. 80. I mean, what is that all about? I had to stop in the middle of putting up my Christmas tree last night to put on the fan, it was so warm inside. Not exactly chestnuts roasting on an open fire kind of weather (unless you want a bad case of the sweats). My husband, who hates the cold, is overjoyed, but to me it just seems weird. Is it global warming? Or maybe just the combined heat of Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, building up over many showings of Dirty Dancing? Hmmm....

have a good day, everyone!

It's good to know that the weather is being crazy in other parts of the world too. I woke up this morning to find that the sun was shining brightly, in the middle of winter, in England. That should not happen XD

Your new necklace is lovely by the way :)

Yeah, don't know what to make of this heat. Gotta find a way to work outside more.

Those are some beautiful designs on the William Travis site (and around your neck). I think I did improv with someone who used to work there, but I've never been inside. Next time I need something for a special occassion...

Alex.

I think that dirty dancing is shown so much because it's the kind of movie that people can watch over and over and over and, though they do get bored, feel compelled to watch it again anyway. This is coming from a person who has seen the hitch hikers guide to the galexy 20 times.

P.S. I slipped and fell on my ass on some traitorous peice of ice pretending to be clean clear under control sidewalk this morning. Enjoy the warmth.

Haha, wow, eighty degrees? That's insanity. =P It's freezing up here in Canada, we even have frost! Haha. I get what you mean about never getting anything done, though. Sounds just like me.
By the way, just to let you know, I just got your livejournal off of your website, so I hope you don't mind that I added you! I'm a huge fan of your books, I just finished 'Just Listen' and I must say, I loved it. I just could not put it down. I just could relate to Annabel SO much, and I adored the dynamic between her and Owen. Also, as a fellow writer, I adore the way you write. It's so enticing, and it just draws you in. 'This Lullaby' was an amazing read as well, and I noticed that you mentioned Dexter & Remy in 'Just Listen.' I loved that! =) I'm now reading 'That Summer,' which I guess is strange considering it was your first book, haha.
Anyways, I can't wait for your new book to come out! And I think it's so cool that you have livejournal, aha. =P I'll def check back to see what you're up to.

My friend told me about this amazing cheesecake, and while looking through the delicious pictures online, I found this:
http://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx/view.2/app.detail/params.CM_SCID.coll

Red Velvet Cheesecake. It made me think of you, and though it won't help with the whole losing baby-weight thing, I thought it might make your Christmas (or day, at least) a little more joyful.

Oh, and the reason I posted the QVC website is because they have better deals on it than the actual Junior's Cheesecake website. Enjoy!

This is the whole catalog of delicious things. The Red Velvet Cheesecake is at the end of the second row.

But I'm warning you, don't look go to the website unless you can guarantee at least 10 (possibly more!) extra minutes to browse, because it's almost certain that you, like me, will not be able to look away from your computer monitor. Or stop drooling, for that matter.

And yeah, I know what you mean. Not necessarily right now is our weather all hot-and-humid-just-in-time-for-the-Holidays, but last year it certainly was. Right now it's just sort of an illusion; you look outside, see the sun, the blue sky and think, "Gee, looks like it'll be a warm day! No need for a coat today."

Wrong. You step outside, shiver, see your breath, run back into the house and bundle up. It sucks.
