Look what I got: ![]() See it? Look closer: ![]() Isn't that the coolest? It's just like the Lock and Key cover. My friend Travis made it. And I'm going to be giving one away through my website sometime in Spring 2008, so stay tuned! In other news, I think I mentioned here that we got Showtime back in the fall because we decided we could not endure the long wait for Season Three of Weeds to come out on DVD. And with Showtime, we also got The Movie Channel, which I have now decided should be called The Dirty Dancing Channel. I swear to you, Dirty Dancing is on one of the Movie Channel channels EVERY SINGLE DAY if not EVERY SINGLE MOMENT. It's insane. Not that I'm necessarily complaining, of course, as I love Dirty Dancing and will pretty much stop what I'm doing to watch it, at least for a few minutes. (Yet another reason why I never seem to get anything done these days. When in doubt, blame Patrick Swayze, is what I say.) But as I sit watching it, I always wonder who else is getting sucked in at that same exact moment. I mean, they must do market research, right, in deciding what movies to show the most. So there has to be a reason they pick Dirty Dancing and not something else. So maybe there is a contingent of new moms about my age, home during the day, somewhat wistful for cheesy 80's nostalgia, and I'm not alone? God, I hope so. Because if not, then I'm even more pathetic than I think. Which is, well, pretty pathetic. Sigh. Finally, it's going to be eighty degrees here today. Yes, you read that right. 80. I mean, what is that all about? I had to stop in the middle of putting up my Christmas tree last night to put on the fan, it was so warm inside. Not exactly chestnuts roasting on an open fire kind of weather (unless you want a bad case of the sweats). My husband, who hates the cold, is overjoyed, but to me it just seems weird. Is it global warming? Or maybe just the combined heat of Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, building up over many showings of Dirty Dancing? Hmmm.... |

And seriously, what is it about Dirty Dancing?! I totally stop everything to watch it too (and this is a little embarrassing...I often dance around the house after I've watched it!). -Em (www.emsbookshelf.blogspot.com) |
On December 11th, 2007 02:56 am (UTC), (Anonymous) commented: I think that dirty dancing is shown so much because it's the kind of movie that people can watch over and over and over and, though they do get bored, feel compelled to watch it again anyway. This is coming from a person who has seen the hitch hikers guide to the galexy 20 times. P.S. I slipped and fell on my ass on some traitorous peice of ice pretending to be clean clear under control sidewalk this morning. Enjoy the warmth. |

My friend told me about this amazing cheesecake, and while looking through the delicious pictures online, I found this: http://www.qvc.com/qic/qvcapp.aspx/v Red Velvet Cheesecake. It made me think of you, and though it won't help with the whole losing baby-weight thing, I thought it might make your Christmas (or day, at least) a little more joyful. Oh, and the reason I posted the QVC website is because they have better deals on it than the actual Junior's Cheesecake website. Enjoy! Oh dear, it seems my link doesn't work. Let's try this again: http://www.qvc.com/cgen/render.aspx?q This is the whole catalog of delicious things. The Red Velvet Cheesecake is at the end of the second row. But I'm warning you, don't look go to the website unless you can guarantee at least 10 (possibly more!) extra minutes to browse, because it's almost certain that you, like me, will not be able to look away from your computer monitor. Or stop drooling, for that matter. |

This is my favorite book that I have read of yours so far, and I just wanted to know if you were planning on writin a sequal to it becuase it kinda left me hanging and I would like to see the characters go on in life and see little Grace grow up and see what happens with Scarlett and Cameron and with Halley and Macon and all the rest of the great characters in the book. |

I find them so easy to relate to and I'm in a rut right now because I'm between books and i can't find another one to read. Do you have any suggestions? Also, can you say what the new book is about? I'm dying to know! |
