Lost the game. But I keep my word and honor my bet with Laurie Halse Anderson, Georgetown fan extraordinaire. I will also be sending her a signed copy of Just Listen for her public library. This one's for you, Laurie!

*sigh*

Fine, fine. So the basketball season is, for me, over. That's not a reason to mope, whine and weep, is it? Okay, maybe it is. But I did that last night. Today is a new day! Step forward, and all that.

Yesterday, before the carnage, I returned from a lovely weekend in Massachusetts where, on Saturday night, it snowed. Snowed! Not a lot---especially by their standards---but more than I've seen in awhile. My cousin Miranda actually laughed at me when we saw the forecast, which said a possible two to four inches could fall, and I began to panic about not being able to fly home. Because, you know, HERE two inches would affect such things. Apparently not the case there. At any rate, I got home, walked out of the RDU terminal and into...eighty degree heat. Came home, showered, put on a tank top and flip flops. It just seems weird a simple hour and a half flight can take you from one extreme to another like that. Not that I'm complaining, of course.

Another great thing about this weekend (aside from seeing my cousin SO happy at her wedding, and beautiful, and catching up with all my other family, which was fab) was I had some real time to read. I actually worked my way through two books in four days, serious vacation pace. First, I read Tom Perrotta's Joe College, which was GREAT, and actually made me laugh out loud at one point (which almost never happens when I'm reading, and is therefore super impressive). I am going out today to look for Election, as well as anything else he has. I am in AWE, let me just say. Then, yesterday, as soon as I got to the airport, I bought a bagel and settled in with Cocktails For Three, which is by Madeleine Wickham (also known as Sophie Kinsella, author of the Shopaholic series). I finished it just as my plane was touching down here at home, about four hours later, and I LOVED it. Great Brit Chick Lit (say that five times fast!), done by a master, and so, so fun to read. Next up: Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert, which I bought at the Harvard Coop bookstore (which has a GREAT YA section, not that I was cruising it looking for my books or anything). Maybe all these good books will take my mind off of UNC's loss. Can't hurt, right?

Finally, there's a new Saturn commercial running that's been driving me crazy. Not because the song in it gets totally stuck in your head (although it does) but because I was SURE I'd heard it someplace, but couldn't remember where. And then, finally, it hit me:

And now, it will be in YOUR head all day. But at least you'll have that nice Muppet visual, and not a car. Better, right?

have a good day, everyone!
