Due to my Oscar enthusiasm yesterday, I completely forgot to congratulate the winners of the Newbery, Caldecott and Printz awards, which were just announced at the ALA midwinter conference. Good books all, but of course I have to send a special shout out to John Green, who received a Printz honor for An Abundance of Katherines. This is after WINNING the Printz last year. Step back! It's so impressive: that's like getting an Oscar for your first film, then getting nominated for your second. I mean, hello! Even more fun, on the Brotherhood 2.0 site, you can see John just after he received the news, in all his disbelieving glory. So awesome. Meanwhile, I was feeling kind of low the other day, like the world was kicking me when I was down. You know the feeling, I'm sure. (Or maybe you don't. In which case, I salute you. And want to know your secret. Seriously, what is it?) Anyway, I was slumped on the couch, about to commence a pity party in earnest, when I realized a few weeks back I'd Tivoed a couple of episodes of A&E's Intervention. So I put one on. Five minutes later, no joke, I was completely cured. Maybe the one I saw was particularly bad---I think it was, in fact, a girl who was really beyond help, it seemed---but it provided some much needed perspective, stat. It's entirely too easy to get caught up in your own stupid dramas, especially when you spend much of your day inside your head anyway. Good to have something to remind me that life is not so bad, not at all. Even if it is January, and gloomy, and I feel like I can't please anybody. At least I'm not addicted to meth and half naked in my driveway. And for that, I am grateful. Finally, how great was it to have a new Gilmore Girls AND Veronica Mars last night? It seems like forever, and it's nice to have my Tuesday nights back. Although I do have one thing to say about VM last night----and this is a SPOILER so don't keep reading if you haven't watched it yet!----which is, didn't we all learn from the whole Ross and Rachel "We were on a break!" thing? There should be some kind of rule that if you break up with your one true love, you CANNOT sleep with anyone else for, like, at least a week. Just to make sure the breakup sticks. Because those impulsive things are always followed by said OTL showing up, ready to reconcile, and then you're in a real pickle. Logan clearly should have taken my advice and stayed home to read the dictionary, or something. Oh, well. |

haha, i loved that video. i loved GG last night... took it forever to get back here... but I am more excited after the previews and then this morning I read spoilers (i really need to stop doing that) which has me even MORE excited.... Sure, sorta. I suck at making recaps, but here is general: Rather than celebrating Christmas while Rory is in London over the holidays, Lorelai and Christopher decide to put their holidays on hold.Once Rory returns to Stars Hollow, they decorate several Christmas trees, do their shopping and even bake Christmas cookies for the first time as a family. Turning up unexpectedly at the inn, Luke asks Lorelai to write a character recommendation letter for his custody battle over April. Lorelai struggles to write the letter until she and Rory run into Luke and April at the mall and Lorelai suddenly remembers how important Luke has always been in Rory's life. Inspired, Lorelai writes the letter and mails it to Luke's attorney. Rory decides she will write an apology letter to her friend Lucy, explaining why she and Marty kept their past friendship a secret. But, I do highly recommend visiting http://www.tv.com/gilmore-girls/san But then again, I am a huge fan of that site :) |

It is because the contracts are up. Both Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel's contracts are up. There is still discussion about whether or not one or both will return. On January 25th, 2007 03:03 am (UTC), (Anonymous) replied: yea but they always have the option of renewing thier contracts (hopefully!!!) i would just die if they dont- all my favorite shows are being cancelled (oc...) pce =] |
On January 24th, 2007 08:43 pm (UTC), (Anonymous) commented: veronica mars i'm so glad that there was a new episode of veronica mars last night. and the whole car scene i think that it was one of those scenes that aren't what they appear to be and the cw promos are always misleading and taken out of context. but anyway, i'm a huge LoVe fan, so i was happy about the ending last night. i was glad that we got to see that they did miss each other over the last month. i can't wait till next week. i love your books, Sarah. i've read almost all of them and i can read them over and over again. i can't wait till your next book. |

On January 25th, 2007 03:41 am (UTC), (Anonymous) commented: I love VM, but personally I think GG has been going downhill ever since Rory left Yale, even though she eventually went back. Plus I'm far from Logan's number one fan (I'm a Jess girl). Hey maybe it would put you in a better mood to know that someone (just yesterday) was reading one of your books for the second time and loving it (Someone like you - my third favorite). The Truth About Forever was the book that really got me interested in your writing. I also love This Lullaby, in fact the name of my blog has to do with that book, hope you don't mind. Whenever I read your books it makes me want to sit down and write (my drug of choice), once I've read at least two more chapters of course. Okay, sorry, I'm babbling. P.s Can't wait for another book! |
