I stand corrected.

Yes, it's actually snowing here. I know those of you from states that get actual snow all the time will look at this and say, "Please! That's hardly a smattering!" (Or maybe you wouldn't say smattering. But you get the idea.) Here, though, this is a Big Deal. Our local schools are closed, everything has come to a grinding halt. We're under a winter weather warning, even though we're only supposed to get about two inches, if that. But I have to admit, it is pretty. As well as a good excuse to stay home and drink hot chocolate, and that's always a good thing.

Plus, I can be all fancy with my hot choc, because I just recently bought a milk frother. I know, I know. It's completely unnecessary. But I was at Home Goods, it was $9.99, and I thought it would be fun. It's so easy: you put some milk in a glass, insert the frother, froth it up, then microwave it, which makes it froth up even higher, spilling over the edge of the cup and your microwave. (That last bit isn't actually part of the directions. It's just what I did. I don't recommend it.) Anyway, once you have your froth, you mix it in with some hot chocolate mix and voila (or wa-la, as my husband would say): hot chocolate that ISN'T all watery, but actually kind of thick and smooth. Will I use this product more than six times? I doubt it. But for ten bucks, I don't even feel bad about that. Not at all.

Meanwhile, right now they're talking to the head of the Department of Transportation on the local news, which has pre-empted GMA for this BREAKING WEATHER EVENT. I swear, the local news stations go nuts on days like this. They're postively...frothed, actually. Live coverage of overpasses! Ticker with the cancellations! Eyewitness accounts of flakes falling! Then again, we only get snow once a year, if that, so I guess we should let them have their fun while it lasts. Which will probably be...until about noon, when it all changes over to rain. Oh, well.

have a good day, everyone!

That is so hilarious that the schools are closed!! I live in Illinois, and our schools don't get closed unless there's at least 8 inches already on the ground.

SNOW! In Chapel Hill!

Okay, must go play in it before my first class.

You know, had you ACTUALLY predicted us getting some, we would be staring at a thick layer of ice right about now. Just the way things work :(

ice storm? try living in canada hun. an ice storm takes on a whole new meaning,as in its perfectly normal to get hail a couple inches thick, or snow a couple feet deep, or sleet that stays on your windows for weeks

hehe, its fun

its barely icey here, although i will say it was enough to have us on a two hour delay... anything to make me miss statistics and let me sleep in two hours is good enough for me.
(yes, two days into classes and i am already tired of them).

i wish we had snow... i love snow. i am from SC/GA, so we get snow even LESS than you do!

"Our local schools are closed"

Why? I mean, two inches of snow and you close schools there? I don't get it. We have to go to school even if we'd have two metres of snow.

My guess is that they aren't closed because of the two inches of snow but they're closed because people who are not used to seeing snow at all on the freeways forget how to drive.

I live in the Maryland mountains and it's been so depressing over here because people aren't the same in the winter if there isn't snow on the ground. The ski resorts are closed, there aren't any lakes to ice skate on, people frankly just have no idea what to do with themselves!

Send some of that snow this way so people finally stop 1-complaining and 2-perk up!!

They've even started calling this fine month of January JUNEuary. How ridiculous.

You'd think that if you only got a little bit of snow once a year, that your state would be prepared for it. Ice is bad. Two inches of snow or less is child's play.

Here's we'd have two feet of snow, it would still be falling, and we'd be at school, on time, all day. But we don't get much snow anymore. I miss snow.

hot cocoa
i love hot chocolate. but I hate it when it is soo hot you have to wait at least 5 minutes to take a sip, in order to not burn your tounge and make your tounge feel funky for the next 2 days. My mom has this thing called the cocoa motion. This device makes the perfect hot chocolate...at the perfect temperature. If you have never heard of this, I suggest you go out and purchase one. It is AMAZING!

Although I'm from Michigan and we got a lot of snow at times. The first snowfall is always pretty and exciting. And then you get the ice storms and blizzards, which ends in wishing spring would just arrive. Have a fabulous day with your hot chocolate and pretty snow!!

I woke up at 7:30 this morning to joyful shouts outside. So I peaked outside my dorm window (without my glasses on) and saw pure white. I got all excited and was like, "I think it snowed!" even though my roommate was still sleeping. She got up, checked and confirmed. I then put on my glasses and took the full glance through the blinds for myself. For 45 minutes I tried to go back to sleep since my first class didn't start until 9:30, but it was all in vain. I kept thinking As soon as I finally get up, all the snow will be gone! And yes, it is now all melting on campus : ( But my boyfriend said it's supposed to snow again on Sunday. Sarah, just say it's not and maybe it will! lol

I think if we got even one snow flake they would probably close school. Okay I'm exaggerating, but still.
