I get up this morning, turn on GMA, and who do I see? McDreamy. Sa-woon! What a great way to start the day. I swear, I think I'm just a little bit too into Patrick Dempsey these days. It's almost eclipsed my Luke Perry fixation, which I just would have never thought was even possible. Times change, I guess. I'm also SO SO happy that Grey's is new tonight, FINALLY, after what seems like months of reruns. (Which I dealt with by watching the entire first season again on DVD. You do what you have to, I guess.) From the preview, it looks very interesting. I literally cannot wait. In other news, so far I have 120 comments for yesterday's entry, all from people just checking in to say hi. Thank you to everyone who took the time to say hello. I have read every single comment, and will continue to do so as long as they come in. This blog is such a strange thing at times, because it's just me sitting here at the desk off our kitchen, tip-tapping away on the keyboard, with usually no idea who might read it or even care. But now I know so many of you! It's almost made me a little shy. Almost. Anyway. Last night, I got to indulge my another of my longtime fixations (even longer than Luke Perry or McDreamy): UNC basketball. The ACC season has finally begun in earnest, which means that I have yet another thing to look forward on TV every week. Last night was great because not only did UNC win, but Duke lost. Which, if you're a Carolina fan, is pretty much the best scenario you can hope for. (Just as, for a Duke fan, a Duke win and Carolina loss is just about perfect as well.) I've written here before about how I used to be so obsessed with Carolina basketball that I got a stomachache on big game days, as if I myself might be expected to play if things got close. I memorized statistics, knew everything about our players and everyone else's, and talked so much trash to the TV that hardly anyone ever wanted to watch with me. I've calmed down now, though. And I'm a much better fan for it, I think, although sometimes I miss that crazy intensity that came with being so invested in a game you almost couldn't stand to watch the last few minutes, like your heart just might explode before the final buzzer sounded. Even with my new found basketball zen, though, I still had to laugh at this YouTube clip, which was forwarded to me by the fabulous Bring on McDreamy. And the regular season. We're ready! have a good day, everyone! ![]() |

I can consider it job-related since I am a librarian. :o) I work with kids but often venture into YA lit since I never outgrew it; and you've been one of the authors whose books I always read since I discovered _Keeping the Moon_. I also share your obsession with Gilmore Girls (though not so much this season), Veronica Mars, and various other TV shows. I'm 30 (that was a scary birthday) and live in Michigan, but went to school in TN and SC and have friends in NC. I was offered a job in Asheville a few years ago but the pull of family in MI was too strong. Anyway, thanks for the blog -- I really enjoy it! |
I think I may have introduced myself before, and I've written a couple of comments, but here it goes... my name is Ashley, and I'm 20... I'm in my 3rd year of university getting an honours specialization in history. I'm from Ontario, Canada and I've been reading your books since right before 'How To Deal' came out. I remember agonizing over which of your books I should read first, because they all sounded so interesting. I finally decided and bought one, reading it within one day. Soooo then I went out and bought all the other ones that were out at the time! I think your characters are lovely, and the storylines so relateable. I love that you don't write down... as in, you look at teenagers and that time of life as something so intricate and important, where as I think a lot of authors make YA literature so trivial. I love to read just plain fun books as much as the next person, but I love that your books are serious... they look at real issues. Thank you, Sarah... for your wonderful books, and for your continued entries. No matter how many times I comment or don't, I always read them, and I appreciate the things you have to say! =) On January 12th, 2007 03:43 am (UTC), (Anonymous) replied: Oh my gosh...your picture is a picture of the extremely hot Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher of McFly in their latest music video, Sorry's Not Good Enough. I love them. I hope they try to make it over here in th Us. the UK has better music. I LOVE McFly. Apperently you do to. You are now on my good-list:) |
An intro and a book rec Hi Sarah, I'm introducing myself as well...I started reading you via As for the book rec, have you read To Hate Like This Is To Be Happy Forever by Will Blythe? It is all about the UNC/Duke basketball rivaly, written by a Tarheel. Go Heels! |

I especially like hearing about your dogs, I have a large and small dog too. I saw you at ALAN in Nashville and it is nice to put a name to the face. Love all your books and always recommend them to my teen patrons. You have inspired me to blog too which is at www.randomreads.net. Keep on writing. Anne |

I'm Miriam, I'm 19 and I'm from England (Anyone else from England?). I love your books, Sarah - you're one of my favourite authors. The characters are so real and I love the messages behind the stories. And I also love the humour (I love the bit in This Lullaby with John Miller and the credit card...!). My favourite book is probably This Lullaby, although I haven't read The Truth About Forever or Just Listen yet - they take so long to publish them over here! It's really encouraging to read that so many of your readers are older than me - I love YA books and don't want to think that I'll ever grow out of them, so maybe I won't! The CW is considering purchasing it for a fifth season, though. I hope so. The creater, Josh Schwartz, says personally, he would like a whole Julie-Kaitlin anti-Gilmore Girl thing. I would love that. |

I didn't get to introduce myself yesterday, and I'm feeling a little left out, so...Hi, I'm Claire, and I hope to be a YA author when I grow up, even though I'm still in high school now. I actually came to one of your signings last year when your were on your book tour for Just Listen, I might have said something to you, to be perfectly honest I don't remember because I was so nervous. The first book I read of yours was This Lullaby, but my favorite book of yours is The Truth About Forever because it helped me with grief that I had and it really inspired my writing. I read your livejournal everyday, I like when you talk about TV, Gilmore Girls in perticular. Of course I always love when you post writing tips, I need all the advice I can get. So keep writing Sarah, I'll keep reading! -Claire |
