Just a little bit of spring for those of you who are still battling the ice and snow. These flowers were courtesy of my neighbors, from their yard. Everytime I get flowers, I try to take a picture, but in all honestly the picture never does them justice. Maybe I'm just a crappy photographer (entirely possible) but I like to think that it could be because some things are just meant to be more beautiful in person. Still, it is kind of pretty.

Speaking of beautiful, it's been that (and completely unseasonably warm) here this entire weekend, with everything blooming everywhere and people in shorts and tank tops. Tomorrow, we're supposed to get back to normal, i.e. cooler. But it's nice while it lasts.

Busy times this weekend, with the ACC tournament, and Carolina losing, and now the NCAA brackets. We have a few days to catch our breath before it all kicks in again. Meanwhile, it's spring break, so town has that great empty feeling, kind of quiet and peaceful. I have been nostalgic for teaching as the weather gets warmer: it was always after this week that my students handed in their stories and we started going outside for class everyday. There were always mowers droning in the background, so you had to yell to be heard, and there was always the risk of being totally distracted by everyone walking past, or just how gorgeous it was out, but still, it was worth it. My favorite part of the year. Good times.

Also this weekend I finally finished the documentary Country Boys, which I highly recommend. It was recently on Frontline, on PBS, and is now on DVD, and follows two kids from Kentucky through about three years of high school. It's really interesting, if a bit of a time commitment. But if you like documentaries---I'm thinking of you here, Adam---I think you'd really like it. It makes you realize how much impact just having one person who cares about what you do with your life can have. One kid has that: the other does not. For all the nagging my parents did, I'm so glad they cared enough to stay on me about school and college. It makes a big difference.

Finally, a last word about television, and not the PBS kind. On Soapnet right now, 90210 is winding down towards the very end of the series: Donna and David are engaged, Kelly's questioning her own wedding plans, and you can just feel things wrapping up. I have to say this: I have never loved Luke Perry as I do right now, in these last few shows. Sure, I loved him in the early days, with his long coat and quiet, barely-suppressed rage. And I loved him in the college years, when he was falling in love with the Noxema girl. But now, here: it's the best. If you're a fan, you should be tuning in, just to see how it all wraps up. So good.

Okay, it's too pretty to be inside. Gotta get outside, while this lasts....

have a good day, everyone!

90210
The series finale actually aired on Friday. I was such a 90210 fan but I actually stopped watching it when Luke Perry originally left, so that was the first time I saw those last episodes.

They're starting from the beginning today (the pilot is actually on as I type this, and reairs at 5:00)...of course, it's a bit of a disappointment 'cause there's no Dylan. But in time, in time!

I can't wait until it's flip-flop season here in Ontario. It's been raining for the last few days, so the snow is all melting. Spring is almost here! By the way, those flowers really are pretty. Have an awesome day Sarah!

Rawr. I'm jealous of your nice weather. We just got a huge dump of snow (I'm talking, like 3 days straight, and nearly a foot of the white stuff), and it was -23 celsius when I went to the bus stop this morning. :(

I WANT SPRING!

Up in Canada it's been 10-15 degrees celsius (the only form of degrees I remotely understand) which in some places was record breaking. However, it's going back down to 3 degrees tomorrow.

Global warming is making our weather extremely weird.

I mean... snow in California? What?!

The weather here is on and off, too. Today it's warm enough to admire the flowers, but Friday we're expecting more snow.

(huff) For something that seems so simple, the weather is strangely complicated.

Hmmm..

ok, this really has nothing to do with what u just wrote or anything, but I just went on amazon.com to preorder just listen, and I saw that there were two books of yours that I hadn't read, in fact I've never even heard of them, so I was wondering if they were just like different titles given to the same books or something. One was called Last Chance, and the other Crazy Moon (maybe instead of Keeping the Moon). I'm just asking because it's weird since they don't even say anything about the books on the page when u click on them. Is it maybe a different author by the same name? could u please let me know because if not I'll order them too, since u can never have enough books to read (I just finished Jane Eyre, and I don't care how many people I know hated it and said it was terrible I still think it was good, and now I need another book to try and rival the whole Jane - Mr. Rochester thing, lol).

I think "Crazy Moon" is the German translation of "Keeping the Moon." I Googled "Last Chance," and it seems to be "Keeping the Moon" also--perhaps the British or Australian version?

Dylan's better than Matt the loser lawyer
I grew up on 90210. I liked it when Kelly and Brandon were together, and let's face it, you know they only fell this short of getting married because Jason Priestley wanted to do other stuff. And as for Dylan, I liked him best with Toni, who he married and then had to watch die because of him. So sad. I wish I had Soapnet so I could relive all those moments. Forget the O.C., Beverly Hills 90210 all the way.

Weather
For those of you talking about California and don't actually live there and think this snow thing is werid let me tell you how I feel. Okay so I love the snow, but I live in Inland Southern California were there is no snow ever (except an hour away one day a year up in the Mts.) So I was just about to give up on staring at the near by mt range while praying to the weather god for snow when... IT SNOWED!! And not just like in the mts but like in the valley area! And its March!!!!????? hmmmmm.

Well, we had spring on Saturday...82 degrees and my dad barbequed for the first time this year...also the first sun tea (I think I died and went to culinary heaven, haha). But Sunday it stormed all day...including like 100 some tornado warnings in Missouri during the course of the day. Crazy. I have golf ball sized hail in my freezer.

University Student Question
Hello, I just had a quick question for you. I love your books and have been reading them since middle school. I have read all of your books but am looking for another author that is as interesting as you with a similar writing style. I want to know if you have any suggestions on what I should read next. I would love to find a good summer reading.

Thanks.

Daffodils are my absolute favorite thing about Spring. The bright yellos just screams "Spring is here at last!! Break out the shorts and hang up the coats!"

When I was little, my aunt and I would go pick daffodils every Spring in this little meadow about half a mile from my grandmother's house. I rememeber how I used to look forward to that every year. Now, when ever I see them, I have to at least smell them.
